IMPORTANT:
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of FindMyFixer as a Homeowner. By posting a Job or creating an account you agree to be bound by these terms. Separate Terms and Conditions apply to Traders.
1. Introduction
1.1. FindMyFixer Ltd operates the FindMyFixer platform at www.findmyfixer.co.uk, an online marketplace connecting homeowners with verified local tradespeople. These terms govern your use as a Homeowner.
1.2. By creating an account, posting a Job, or using any part of the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1.3. We may update these terms from time to time. We will give you at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
2. Definitions
In this Agreement the following words and phrases have the following meanings:
"Agreement" means these Homeowner Terms and Conditions together with FindMyFixer's Privacy Policy, Reviews and Moderation Policy, and any other policies published on the platform.
"Chat" means an in-platform messaging conversation between you and a Trader in connection with a specific Job.
"Completion" means the point at which you confirm a Job is complete, or the 48-hour auto-release window expires following a Trader's sign-off request, whichever occurs first.
"FindMyFixer" means FindMyFixer Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 17197026.
"Job" means a home improvement, repair, or maintenance task you post on the FindMyFixer platform.
"Homeowner" means a person registered on FindMyFixer to post Jobs and hire Traders. Includes owner-occupiers, landlords, authorised property managers, and tenants with landlord permission.
"Platform Fee" means the fee of 4% of the total agreed Job value charged by FindMyFixer, deducted from the payment before release to the Trader. This is included within your total payment — it is not an additional charge.
"Protected Payment" means FindMyFixer's payment system whereby you pay the full agreed Job value upfront, held within Stripe's infrastructure and released to the Trader in two stages.
"Quote" means a formal offer from a Trader specifying the total price, scope, and timeline for completing your Job.
"Stripe" means Stripe, Inc., the third-party payment processor used by FindMyFixer.
"Trader" means a verified, self-employed tradesperson or trade business registered on FindMyFixer.
"You" means the Homeowner entering into this Agreement.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1. To use FindMyFixer as a Homeowner you must be aged 18 or over and a UK resident. By using the platform you confirm you meet these requirements.
3.2. You may post a Job without an account but must register to receive and respond to Trader interest and to accept Quotes. Registration requires your name, email, mobile number, and a password.
3.3. You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your login credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at support@findmyfixer.co.uk if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.
3.4. You must not register multiple Homeowner Accounts.
4. Posting a Job
4.1. You may post a Job on FindMyFixer free of charge. By posting you confirm that:
- you are the property owner, an authorised landlord, property manager, or a tenant with landlord permission for the proposed work
- the Job description accurately describes the work required
- you are ready and intending to hire a Trader within the timeframe indicated
- you will respond promptly to Traders who express interest or send messages
- you will not post Jobs speculatively or without genuine intent to hire
4.2. Job listings not resulting in an accepted Quote within 30 days will be automatically archived. You will be notified 3 days before expiry and may re-post if required.
4.3. You must not post Jobs that describe illegal or unlicensed work, are posted purely to obtain comparison quotes, contain false or misleading information, or relate to property for which you have no authority to commission work.
5. Browsing Traders and Opening Chats
5.1. When a Trader expresses interest in your Job you can view their full profile including verification badges, star rating, reviews, specialist skills, and portfolio photos.
5.2. You may open a Chat with up to 3 Traders simultaneously per Job, giving each a fair opportunity to discuss your requirements.
5.3. All communication must take place through FindMyFixer's in-platform messaging until a Quote is accepted. You must not request or share personal contact details before a Quote is accepted and payment confirmed.
5.4. Once a Quote is accepted and payment confirmed, the Trader's mobile number will be shared with you for direct communication about logistics and access.
5.5. FindMyFixer's verification confirms identity, certifications, and insurance. It does not guarantee workmanship quality. Review each Trader's profile, reviews, and portfolio carefully before accepting a Quote.
6. Accepting a Quote and Making Payment
6.1. When you accept a Trader's Quote you will be taken to a Stripe payment screen to pay the full agreed Job value. Payment must be made before the Trader is formally engaged.
6.2. By making payment you confirm that you have read and understood the Quote, you authorise the work at the agreed price, and you understand the agreed price is your total obligation unless you separately agree a change in scope.
6.3. All payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are handled directly by Stripe and never stored by FindMyFixer. By making payment you also agree to Stripe's terms at stripe.com/legal.
6.4. The Platform Fee of 4% is included within the amount you pay — it is not an additional charge. It covers the cost of the platform, payment handling, verification, and dispute resolution services.
7. Protected Payment — How Your Money is Held
7.1. Your full payment is held within Stripe's payment infrastructure from the moment you pay until release conditions are met. Neither the Trader nor FindMyFixer can access your payment before then.
7.2. Payment is released to the Trader in two stages:
- 30% of the Trader's net amount when the Trader marks the Job as started
- 70% of the Trader's net amount when you confirm Completion, or automatically after 48 hours if you do not confirm or raise a dispute following the Trader's sign-off request
7.3. If you are not satisfied with the completed work you must raise a dispute within the 48-hour sign-off window. If you allow the window to expire without action, the remaining payment is automatically released and no dispute can be raised for that Job.
7.4. The Protected Payment system is FindMyFixer's standard marketplace payment model using Stripe Connect. It gives you confidence your money is secure before work begins and provides a clear process for resolving issues if work is not completed as agreed.
8. Job Completion, Sign-Off, and Disputes
8.1. When the Trader considers the Job complete, they will request sign-off. You will be notified and have 48 hours to confirm completion or raise a dispute.
8.2. If satisfied, tap 'Confirm complete'. The remaining 70% is released to the Trader and both parties are invited to leave a review.
8.3. If not satisfied, raise a dispute within the 48-hour window. You may do so on the following grounds:
- work was not completed as agreed in the accepted Quote
- quality of work is substandard or unsafe
- the Trader caused damage to your property during the Job
- the Trader did not attend as agreed without reasonable notice
- the final cost exceeded the agreed Quote without your prior consent
8.4. When raising a dispute you must describe the issue. Providing photographic evidence is strongly recommended. The Trader has 24 hours to respond. FindMyFixer will review all evidence and issue a decision within 48 hours.
8.5. FindMyFixer's dispute decision may result in full release to the Trader, a full refund to you, or a split decision based on the evidence.
8.6. FindMyFixer's decision is final within the platform. You are not prevented from pursuing other legal remedies including through the courts, a trade ombudsman, or the Trader's public liability insurer.
8.7. Jobs ending in a dispute outcome are excluded from the review system.
9. Your Relationship with Traders
9.1. FindMyFixer is a marketplace facilitator only. We are not a party to any contract between you and a Trader for trade services. The Service Agreement is between you and the Trader directly.
9.2. FindMyFixer does not guarantee the quality, safety, timeliness, or completion of any Trader's work. Verification confirms identity, certifications, and insurance — not workmanship quality.
9.3. All verified Traders hold public liability insurance with minimum coverage of £1,000,000. If a Trader causes property damage, you may claim against their insurance. FindMyFixer can provide insurer details on request.
9.4. Beyond FindMyFixer's dispute resolution process, further recourse options include the Trader's public liability insurer for property damage, the relevant trade body for regulated trade complaints, and the courts for breach of contract claims.
10. Reviews
10.1. Following Completion you are invited to leave a review of the Trader, subject to FindMyFixer's Reviews and Moderation Policy which forms part of this Agreement.
10.2. Key principles:
- reviews may only be submitted following a completed, paid Job through the platform
- reviews are sealed and published simultaneously only when both parties have submitted or after 14 days
- you cannot see the Trader's review before submitting yours and the Trader cannot see yours before submitting theirs
- once submitted your review cannot be edited or retracted
- your review of the Trader is published publicly on their profile
- the Trader's review of you is visible only to other Traders — it is never publicly visible
11. Prohibited Conduct
11.1. You must not use FindMyFixer to:
- post false, misleading, or fraudulent Job listings
- post Jobs without genuine intent to hire through the platform
- arrange payment directly with a Trader for work introduced through FindMyFixer within 12 months of first introduction
- share personal contact details before a Quote is accepted and payment confirmed
- harass, threaten, or abuse Traders or other platform users
- submit false, incentivised, or manipulated reviews or attempt to coerce a Trader regarding reviews
- use the platform for any commercial purpose other than hiring Traders for genuine work
- scrape, copy, or extract data from the platform by any means
12. Off-Platform Transactions
12.1. You must not agree payment with or commission work from a Trader you met through FindMyFixer outside the platform for 12 months from the date of first introduction.
12.2. Off-platform transactions deprive you of the payment protection and dispute resolution the platform provides. Where we become aware of such transactions we may suspend or permanently ban your account.
12.3. If a Trader suggests transacting outside the platform, please report this to support@findmyfixer.co.uk.
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1. FindMyFixer is a marketplace facilitator and is not responsible for the quality, safety, or completion of any Trader's work.
13.2. To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindMyFixer's total liability to you shall not exceed the total Platform Fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
13.3. FindMyFixer shall not be liable for loss arising from a Trader's failure to complete work, property damage caused by a Trader, personal injury, or any indirect or consequential loss.
13.4. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Governing Law
14.1. These Homeowner Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
