IMPORTANT:
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of FindMyFixer as a Trader. By registering a Trader Account you agree to be bound by these terms. Separate Terms and Conditions apply to Homeowners.
1. Introduction
1.1. FindMyFixer Ltd operates the FindMyFixer platform at www.findmyfixer.co.uk, an online marketplace connecting homeowners with verified local tradespeople. These terms govern your use of the platform as a Trader.
1.2. By registering a Trader Account or using the platform to offer your services, you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not register or use the platform.
1.3. We may update these terms from time to time. We will give you at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
2. Definitions
In this Agreement the following words and phrases have the following meanings:
"Agreement" means these Trader Terms and Conditions together with FindMyFixer's Privacy Policy, Reviews and Moderation Policy, and any other policies published on the platform.
"Chat" means an in-platform messaging conversation between you and a Homeowner in connection with a specific Job.
"Completion" means the point at which a Homeowner confirms a Job is complete, or the 48-hour auto-release window expires following your sign-off request, whichever occurs first.
"Data Protection Legislation" means all applicable UK data protection legislation including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
"Job" means a home improvement, repair, or maintenance task posted by a Homeowner on the platform.
"Job Alert" means an SMS notification sent to you when a Job matching your criteria is posted.
"Homeowner" means a person registered on FindMyFixer for the purpose of posting Jobs and hiring Traders.
"Net Amount" means the total agreed Job value minus the Platform Fee — the amount payable to you on Completion.
"Platform Fee" means the fee charged by FindMyFixer equal to 4% of the total agreed Job value, deducted automatically before any payment is released to you.
"Protected Payment" means FindMyFixer's payment system whereby a Homeowner pays the full Job value upfront, held within Stripe's infrastructure and released to you in two stages following the rules in Section 9.
"Quote" means a formal offer sent by you to a Homeowner specifying the price, scope, and timeline for completing a Job.
"Service Agreement" means any agreement between you and a Homeowner concerning services to be performed, in any form.
"Stripe" means Stripe, Inc., the third-party payment processor used by FindMyFixer.
"Trader" means a self-employed individual, sole trader, partnership, limited company, or other business entity registered on FindMyFixer to offer trade services.
"Trader Account" means your registered profile on the FindMyFixer platform.
"Verification" means the process by which FindMyFixer confirms your identity, trade certifications, and insurance.
"You" means the Trader entering into this Agreement.
3. Eligibility and Registration
3.1. To register as a Trader you must be aged 18 or over, established and operating in the United Kingdom, and have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom. By creating a Trader Account you confirm you meet these requirements.
3.2. You guarantee to us that:
- you are, and will remain, established in the United Kingdom and provide services in the United Kingdom only
- all information you provide is complete, accurate, and kept up to date
- you will not hold yourself out as having qualifications or certifications you do not possess
- all documents submitted are genuine or true copies of genuine documents
- you are operating in a business capacity and not as a consumer
3.3. We may at any time require evidence that information you have provided is accurate. We may suspend your account until such evidence is provided and terminate this Agreement if you fail to comply.
3.4. You permit us to disclose information about you to tax authorities, regulatory bodies, or law enforcement where required by law.
3.5. You may not create more than one Trader Account without our express written consent.
4. Verification Requirements
4.1. All Traders must complete FindMyFixer's three-step verification before their profile is visible to Homeowners or they receive Job Alerts:
- Identity verification via Stripe Identity using a valid government-issued photo ID — mandatory for all Traders
- Trade certification verification — required for regulated trades only: Electricians (NICEIC or NAPIT), Gas Engineers (Gas Safe), Oil Boiler Engineers (OFTEC)
- Insurance verification — all Traders must hold valid public liability insurance with minimum coverage of £1,000,000
4.2. Verification confirms identity and credentials only. It is not an endorsement of the quality of your workmanship.
4.3. You must maintain valid public liability insurance throughout your time on the platform. Automated reminders are sent 30 and 7 days before expiry. Failure to renew will result in suspension after a 14-day grace period. Reinstatement is immediate on verification of a valid renewal certificate.
4.4. For regulated trades, your certification must remain current at all times. Lapsed certifications must be renewed and re-verified before continued use of the platform.
4.5. FindMyFixer may conduct additional checks at any time as permitted by applicable law. You agree to cooperate with reasonable verification requests.
5. Job Alerts and Expression of Interest
5.1. When a Homeowner posts a Job matching your trade category, geographic area, and account preferences, FindMyFixer will send you a Job Alert by SMS.
5.2. Receiving Job Alerts is free of charge. There are no subscription fees or per-lead charges. FindMyFixer charges only a Platform Fee on completed Jobs as described in Section 9.
5.3. Job Alerts are sent to a maximum of 8 Traders per Job, ranked by distance from the job location.
5.4. You may express interest in a Job by tapping the link in your Job Alert. Expressing interest notifies the Homeowner but creates no obligation on either party.
5.5. You may configure your alert preferences including working radius, minimum job budget, quiet hours, and availability status. Setting your status to 'Taking a break' will pause all Job Alerts.
6. Messaging, Quoting, and Communications
6.1. All communication with Homeowners must take place through FindMyFixer's in-platform messaging system until a Quote is accepted and payment confirmed. You must not share personal contact details before this point.
6.2. You may send a formal Quote specifying the total price, scope of work, estimated timeline, and Quote validity period.
6.3. There is no limit on the number of Quotes you may submit for a single Job.
6.4. FindMyFixer retains records of all in-platform communications for dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and platform safety.
6.5. When a Homeowner accepts your Quote and payment is confirmed, your mobile phone number will be shared with the Homeowner for logistics and access communication. You consent to this disclosure as a condition of using the platform.
7. Conducting the Job
7.1. By having a Quote accepted you enter into a Service Agreement with the Homeowner for the agreed work. You are responsible for fulfilling this in full.
7.2. You must:
- complete work described in the accepted Quote to a reasonable standard and within the agreed timeline
- communicate promptly regarding access, start dates, and any scope or timeline changes
- carry out all work in compliance with applicable law, safety standards, and relevant trade regulations
- obtain all necessary permits, notifications, or registrations required for the work
- hold and maintain valid public liability insurance at all times while carrying out work
- not misrepresent your qualifications, experience, or certifications to the Homeowner
7.3. When you begin work you must mark the Job as started in the app. This triggers release of the 30% start payment to your Stripe account.
7.4. When work is complete, request sign-off through the app. The Homeowner has 48 hours to confirm completion or raise a dispute. If no action is taken within 48 hours, the remaining 70% is automatically released to your account.
7.5. If you engage any subcontractor or third party for any part of a Job sourced through FindMyFixer, you must ensure they meet the same verification, insurance, and conduct standards as you. You remain fully responsible for their acts and omissions.
8. Your Relationship with Homeowners
8.1. FindMyFixer is a marketplace facilitator only. We are not a party to any Service Agreement between you and a Homeowner.
8.2. You are solely responsible for the quality, safety, and completion of all work, any damage to property or injury arising from your work, compliance with consumer protection law including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and providing adequate after-care and remedying defects within a reasonable time.
8.3. FindMyFixer accepts no liability for disputes between you and a Homeowner regarding quality, completion, or outcome of work.
9. Payments and Platform Fee
9.1. All payments are processed by Stripe. By using our payment system you also agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement at stripe.com/connect-account/legal. You must connect a valid UK bank account via Stripe Connect before receiving payment.
9.2. When a Homeowner accepts your Quote:
- the Homeowner pays the full agreed job amount upfront
- FindMyFixer deducts the Platform Fee of 4% of the total job value
- 30% of the Net Amount is released when you mark the Job as started
- 70% of the Net Amount is released on Completion
9.3. The Platform Fee of 4% is deducted automatically and is non-refundable in all circumstances except where FindMyFixer determines at its sole discretion that a full refund including the fee is appropriate.
9.4. Funds typically arrive in your bank account within 2 to 7 working days of release. FindMyFixer has no control over Stripe's payout timelines.
9.5. If a Homeowner raises a dispute following your sign-off request, the 70% final payment is frozen pending the dispute outcome. The 30% start payment already released is not affected by a dispute.
10. Dispute Resolution
10.1. A Homeowner may raise a dispute instead of confirming Completion within the 48-hour sign-off window. Where a dispute is raised, the final 70% is frozen until FindMyFixer issues a decision.
10.2. You will be notified immediately and have 24 hours to submit your response and evidence. FindMyFixer automatically includes the full in-platform chat history in all dispute files.
10.3. FindMyFixer will review all evidence and issue a decision within 48 hours. The decision may result in full release to you, a full refund to the Homeowner, or a split decision.
10.4. FindMyFixer's decision is final within the platform. You may pursue claims through other legal channels but the internal decision cannot be appealed within the platform.
10.5. Where a dispute decision goes against you, a flag is recorded on your Trader Account. Three flags within 12 months triggers a formal account review which may result in suspension or termination.
11. Tax and Legal Compliance
11.1. You are an independent contractor and not an employee, worker, or agent of FindMyFixer. Nothing in this Agreement creates or implies any employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship.
11.2. You are solely responsible for your own tax affairs, including:
- registering for Self Assessment with HMRC if required
- registering for VAT if your taxable turnover exceeds the current VAT registration threshold
- declaring all income received through FindMyFixer on your tax returns
- paying all income tax, National Insurance contributions, and VAT due on your earnings
- where applicable, operating PAYE for employees and complying with the Construction Industry Scheme for subcontractor payments
- maintaining complete and accurate financial records in compliance with all applicable tax law
11.3. FindMyFixer has no liability in relation to your tax affairs. We will provide a statement of your platform earnings on request but the obligation to report and pay tax is yours alone.
11.4. You are responsible for compliance with all laws applicable to your trade business including health and safety, consumer protection, employment law, data protection, and trade-specific licensing requirements.
12. Content and Prohibited Conduct
12.1. All content you post on the platform must be accurate, lawful, and not misleading. You must not include personal contact details before a Quote is accepted, post defamatory or offensive content, or promote competing platforms.
12.2. You must not:
- create multiple Trader Accounts without our written permission
- conduct transactions for work introduced through FindMyFixer outside the platform within 12 months of first introduction — see Section 13
- submit false, incentivised, or manipulated reviews
- intimidate or threaten Homeowners in connection with a review or dispute
- scrape, copy, or extract data from the platform by any means
- use platform data to train machine learning or artificial intelligence systems
- access the platform to build a competing product or service
13. Off-Platform Transactions
13.1. You must not conduct transactions for work introduced through FindMyFixer outside the platform for 12 months from the date of first introduction between you and the relevant Homeowner.
13.2. Where we become aware of off-platform transactions, we reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban your account.
13.3. If a Homeowner suggests transacting outside the platform, you must decline and report this to support@findmyfixer.co.uk.
14. Suspension and Termination
14.1. You may close your account at any time by contacting support@findmyfixer.co.uk. Jobs in progress must be completed and outstanding payments settled before closure.
14.2. We may suspend or terminate your account without notice if you breach this Agreement, provide false information, allow your insurance to lapse, receive three or more dispute decisions against you within 12 months, or engage in conduct posing a risk to Homeowners or the platform.
14.3. On termination, Jobs in progress are handled through the dispute resolution process and payments due for completed work are released under standard payment terms.
15. Limitation of Liability
15.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindMyFixer's total liability to you shall not exceed the Platform Fees received from your transactions in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
15.2. FindMyFixer shall not be liable for loss of income or business opportunity, failure or delay in Job Alerts, or any indirect or consequential loss.
15.3. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
16. Governing Law
16.1. These Trader Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
